Liquid matte lipsticks have been big for a while now, and being new to make-up, especially lipstick, I wanted one for Christmas season at work. I'd heard these liquid matte thingies stayed on your lips, so thought I'd have a look for some on Etsy. I like to support small businesses if I can, and can't afford Kat Von D or Jeffree Star lippies!
Excuse the scruffiness - they are handbag essentials!
I came across Aromi after a search for vegan matte lipsticks, and they had the best reviews by far. People were raving about these lipsticks for all the same reasons my friends were recommending more expensive ones. Being a fan of indie and vegan I went ahead and ordered the red that looked the most me and Christmas - Power Red.
Power Red
Aromi is a tiny business run by chemist Hannah over in America. They make lipsticks and perfumes (purchased their cologne in Douchebag for the other half for the name, and it smells bloody laaaavely!) and their range of liquid lipsticks is both big and beautiful. Everything is handmade in small batches and eeeeverything is vegan and cruelty free. Yay! If they were based in the UK and air miles weren't required to get them to me they'd be 101% perfect!
As for the lipsticks. Oh my. They are everything most of the more well-known, good, liquid lipsticks are, as far as I know. They are super easy to apply, are highly pigmented, dry quite quickly and stay on for hours. They even smell good! Oily food removes some when eaten, but that happens with every matte lipstick I've tried. I love applying lipstick at the start of a shift and finding it's still there at the end! Simple things, eh? The lipsticks feel nice on the lips and don't dry them out - well, not mine at least. I make sure I apply Ultrabalm every night and pop some lip balm while applying make-up and after removing it.
Black Cherry
- and my terrible application -
After falling in love with Power Red (I feel like such a powerful woman in it) and favouriting the odd shade of theirs every now and then, I purchased Black Cherry for my step mum to wear for her gigs. Being a singer she finds it hard to find lipsticks that stay on for her whole set. My plan worked and she has been wearing it so much since! She sings under bright, sweat-inducing lights for hours and it stays on the whole time! Plus it looks rad - totally recommend it for those with darker skin. I may have to get some for myself when autumn comes along. It was also the first one I received in the new branded bottles! Are they bottles? Who cares, they're sleek and lush and pretty.
For my next purchase for myself.... I dived headfirst into this baby:
Desert Taupe
It's one of their bestselling lipsticks and I can see why. It's so on trend with both the nude lip thing and the 90's, grungey, browny lip thing. It's a grey/ beige, or greige shade, with hints of lavender and even a dark, dusty rose in some lights. It's fucking gorgeous. I love it. I want to marry it. It goes with so many looks! It's name be Desert Taupe.
I can't wait to try more of their collection, I'm lusting after a fair few of their liquid lipsticks - Toasted Almond, Miss Mauve, and Red Dahlia have particularly taken my fancy. I'd like to try more of their perfumes, too! In fact I would happily buy everything they have to offer if I had the funds. Their official website has more items than the Etsy store so do check it out before ordering anything!
The only downside to Aromi is that for us UK citizens, the postage is around £8. Which, to me, is no issue as I don't mind paying a bit more a quality product made ethically, but if you can't afford it, maybe stick to bigger brands or those wonderful Sleek lip creams.
Hey! You Should deffo try HNHUK.com liquid lipsticks! They're vegan too <3 x
